Testimonials From People Touched By The JBF
THE "FACE" OF THE JIMMY BURNS HOUSE IN HOUSTON, TEXAS

Our partner and local "face" of the foundation in Texas is CWS Corporate Housing. The Area Director, Teresa Bower, recently wrote Jimmy's parents, Bill and Lois Burns, to let them know that The Jimmy Burns House reaches far beyond the families it houses.

"My name is Teresa Bower I am the Houston Area Manager for CWS Corporate Housing. It has been my privilege to work with the families that have been placed in the JBF fully-funded apartments in Houston, Texas. I say privilege because these families are so thankful for the weight of stress that is lifted from their already burdened shoulders by knowing that they have a place to lay their heads and call home during the trying times of treatment. My life is enriched each time I get the opportunity to walk them into their new, temporary homes and see their emotions run from disbelief to pure illation. I hope that by hearing the difference that your family is making in the lives of these strangers that you know you are not just touching them in an irreversibly positive way but touching those of us who get to witness your generosity as well. So on behalf of the CWS team, I want to thank you and your family for truly making a difference here."

Words of Thanks for the Jimmy Burns House

A friend of a JBH resident recently wrote, "Dawn, God Bless You and Your Family. I have read Your and Jimmy's story and am so sorry that he didn't win the battle. I have a friend now using one of the foundation apartments. He and his family are just beside themselves! My friend has some form of bone cancer and has really been having a hard time from his stem cell transplant. I too am a Cancer survivor of 11 years. I lost 2/3 of my right lung but feel very blessed to have survived.. Your husband's foundation is a very Honoring thing. Sounds like you really lost a Great person!" And a family member of one of our residents eloquently put into words what our mission statement can't quite convey. She wrote, "To this awesome foundation, thank you for doing such a great deed of service to those who need it the most. Angels on earth exist through people who give back even when they have lost so much. This foundation is truly a light from God."

Finally, we recently heard from Gail Birch following the death of her beloved Tommy. "I would like to thank the Foundation for their generous support by allowing my husband, ThomasBirch, and myself to live in the apartment "Marquis at the Bellaire". Tommy had undergone a stem cell transplant on August 30, 2006, at M.D. Anderson cancer hospital. Tommy developed complications with Graft vs. Host disease and suddenly passed away from a blood infection on January 31, 2007. Enclosed please find a memorial donation of $300 in the name of Thomas Ray Birch. May God bless you for setting up the Foundation. We had gone through 6 months of treatment and had exhausted all of our funds. Thanks for the beautiful apartment." Gail H. Birch

In summary, the JBF is truly making a difference thanks in large part to the generosity of its donors. A family member of one of our residents eloquently put into words what our mission statement can't quite convey. She wrote, "To this awesome foundation, thank you for doing such a great deed of service to those who need it the most. Angels on Earth exist through people who give back even when they have lost so much. This foundation is truly a light from God."
