  The Jimmy Burns House
HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Deep in the heart of Texas, the JBF is proud to offer luxury apartments free of charge to patients recovering from bone marrow or stem cell transplants. The housing cost for the 100-day, post-op period typically runs around $5,000. This expense added to the mound of bills already accumulated by these cancer patients just adds further, undue stress to their lives. The JBF is thrilled to lighten the load just a bit with the Jimmy Burns House (JBH) and hopefully allow patients to better focus on what really matters...getting better!

The Marquis at Bellaire is the Jimmy Burns House

Chosen for its close proximity to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, The Marquis at Bellaire offers patients a clean, comfortable, and convenient place in which to recover. These free apartments are fully furnished, with all utilities paid for by The Jimmy Burns Foundation.

Eligibility for the Jimmy Burns House

The social worker team at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is working closely with the JBF in providing patients in need with information on the Jimmy Burns House. Patients may also apply for housing by filling out an application (PDF).

Please Note: Not accepting applications at this time. All units are currently occupied. Please continue to check back for openings.

20-year-old Ette Ndem hales from Columbus, Georgia. He was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2006 and treated with aggressive chemotherapy. Following a stem cell transplant, his disease recurred. He is currently preparing for a second transplant at MD Anderson. Our prayers are with him for a fully successful round two.

46-year-old Rich Grayson of Libertyville, Illinois is staying at the JBH while being treated for a brain tumor. He is currently enrolled in a highly sophisticated study at MD Anderson that will hopefully be his answer to a cure. God bless Rich and his family.

37-year-old Rodney Patterson of Oklahoma is back with the JBH after experiencing liver problems post transplant. We stand 100% behind Rodney and his family and wish him a quick recovery and return back home. (Note that more information on Rodney may be found in our "former resident" section.)

9-year-old Stanton Krause of Cedar Park, Texas is currently being treated at MD Anderson for his Medulla Blastoma with Proton Radiology and Chemotherapy. He is staying at the Jimmy Burns House with his mom and older sister. May Stanton quickly return to his position on the football field and put this illness far behind him.

37-year-old Jennifer Mosher of Chicago, IL has breast cancer that has metastasized to the bone. Because there is no standard treatment, she is taking part in a clinical transplant at MD Anderson this fall. Our heartfelt hopes and prayers are with Jennifer and her family for a successful transplant and, ultimately, full recovery!

64-year-old Bob Trousdale is from Tecumseh, Oklahoma and is currently being treated at MD Anderson for esophageal cancer. We're told it is a rare cancer he has which requires an eight-week regimen of chemotherapy and radiation treatment, beginning September 21st, 2008. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bob and his family as they fight to overcome his illness.

To all of our current and past patients, our hearts are truly with you as you battle your diseases. We empathize with your plights and wish you all the best of health, true happiness, and God's peace.
