The Jimmy Burns Foundation, (JBF) was created in 2003 to honor the life and legacy of Jimmy Burns. What started as a means to gather his friends and family together and generate money in his name has burgeoned into a significant charitable organization that enriches the lives of leukemia patients and their families, as well as invests in research exploring the causes of and potential cures for leukemia. Because all of our fundraising events have Jimmy at the helm, participants also manage to have a pretty good time along the way.

There are two primary fundraisers put on annually by the JBF, a golf outing in the spring and a tailgate party in the fall. The 2008 Jimmy Burns Golf Outing will be held at the Highland Park Country Club in Highland Park, IL on Friday, May 16th, 2008. And the JBF Tailgater will kick off on Saturday, October 4th at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL, with Loyola facing St. Rita. Both events are sure to be enjoyed by all, as Jimmy's family gathers with old and new friends to carry on Jim's mission of indelibly touching the lives of others.

As Emerson once wrote, "To know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Jimmy Burns was clearly successful in life. He continues to positively impact others through the work of The Jimmy Burns Foundation.

One anonymous donor in particular matched $50,000 raised at the 2007 JBF Tailgate Party, bringing the grand total earned that day to over $100,000! Words cannot express our thanks to each and every one of our donors for helping to make The Jimmy Burns Foundation thrive.

The JBF Board of Directors remains committed to funding research for leukemia, helping families touched by leukemia, and ultimately preserving the spirit of Jimmy Burns.
